Offor attended both Eziukwu Elementary School (in Aba, Abia State) and St. Michael’s Primary School (in Ogbete, Enugu) for his elementary education. He attended Merchant of Light School for his elementary and middle school years before transferring to Abbot Boys High School in Ihiala, Anambra State, for his secondary schooling.

After finishing secondary school, Emeka Offor taught at Abbot Boys High School, his alma mater. He moved to Warri, Delta State, with Pa Geoffrey Abadi, a family friend of his father’s.

He was looking for a change of pace. He found it in Delta with the bitumen import company Rivways Lines Nigeria Ltd. Pa Abadi encouraged him to learn the ropes at Rivways Lines by reading up on the company’s history.

 So, Pa Abadi assisted Emeka in purchasing and distributing small quantities of bitumen to less influential organizations. Emeka Offor began selling bitumen to larger companies like Julius Berger Nig. Ltd, Guffanti Nigeria Ltd, Fougerolle Nigeria Ltd, and so on within two years. His honesty, integrity, sense of responsibility, and business savvy helped him succeed.

Sir Emeka Offor decided it was time to expand in 1985. Therefore, he established Chrome Oil Services Limited in 1985. 1994 Chrome Oil Services Limited was reorganized as the present-day Chrome Group. In 1994, Emeka Offor established The Chrome Group in the Nigerian capital of Abuja. 

Today, the firm employs over 800 people. It controls a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of oil and gas, electricity, coordination, protection, broadcasting, and media communications assets.

Pa Abadi urged him to soak up all the basics of the trade at Rivways Lines. Consequently, Pa Abadi assisted Emeka in acquiring and delivering modest volumes of bitumen to less substantial businesses.

Emeka Offor began selling bitumen to larger businesses like Julius Berger Nig. Ltd, Guffanti Nigeria Ltd, Fougerolle Nigeria Ltd, etc., in just two years. His hard work, honesty, loyalty, and smartness in business brought him great success.

Sir Emeka Offor decided to take his business to the next level in 1985 by forming Chrome Oil Services Limited. In 1994, Chrome Oil Services Limited changed its name to The Chrome Group.
